Construction work on heritage buildings requires a knowledgeable, considered approach with specialist expertise. Based in Liverpool and with extensive experience in both traditional and modern building methods, Aztec was the right fit for a delicate project on a building that is very dear to the local community.
The Church was in need of a major refurbishment, along with the creation of a new space inside the building to host community events and live performances, as well as religious services. The aim was to create a modern, warm and welcoming place of worship for all to enjoy – a mission which Aztec was instructed to achieve.
Aztec delivered extensive re-ordering and refurbishment works, both external and internal. Works included a complete M&E renewal, including underfloor heating and complete refinishing. Using its wider property expertise, the team was also able to advise on due diligence and compliance prior to the commencement of the project, offering a level of support that went beyond the construction project itself.
The worship area within the Church received a new raised floor, along with bespoke timber doors, while a new altar table and lockable storage unit were manufactured in Aztec’s own joinery workshop. New flooring was installed throughout, while stud partitions were created to form a new, modern toilet facility able to support the needs of young families.
Safety and security was also paramount, with electrical systems updated to include new emergency lighting, new fire alarms and a new security system installed.
The icing on the cake was the decoration of the inside of the building, helping to provide a pleasant, peaceful environment.
The local community in Ainsdale now has a Church they can be proud of in St Johns - a focal point for people to get together and celebrate as well as worship.
Providing high-end design at the right price, Aztec offered a guiding hand through concept to completion, the results of which have exceeded expectations.
It is a project which we are all incredibly proud of.
