The Mission
Ecclesiastical projects require a sensitive approach, handled by a team with experience handling heritage structures and an understanding of the challenges such buildings pose. With extensive experience working with both traditional and modern build, Aztec was chosen for the job.
With the ability to apply value engineered solutions that met the client’s aspirations for the project, the team at Society of St Pius knew that their project would be in the right hands with Aztec.
The Solution
Aztec provided a full overhaul and lead replacement of the Westmorland Slate covered roof, along with replacement of the conservation steel windows.
The team also delivered a comprehensive M&E package with a new heating system and complete electrical re-wire, bespoke lighting and structural tanking to the basement area to create a conference suite. The team completed an extensive plaster moulding renovation to the barrel-vaulted ceiling and Sanctuary, providing bespoke joinery to match existing period features.
A new kitchen was fitted, along with a new WC, with redecoration throughout the building using only heritage paints. Woodblock flooring and carpets were also replaced.
The Result
A combination of experience and knowledge of handling heritage projects, allowed Aztec to exceed the client’s expectations.
The Church was also able to conserve crucial funds, retaining more than £20,000 alone by using Aztec’s own joinery workshop for fixtures and fittings.
Once again an excellent project completed by the Aztec team.
