Ivanti is a specialist IT Software Company which is headquartered just outside Salt Lake City, USA. They employ over 1700 people worldwide including a significant office in Daresbury, UK.
The brief was to revamp a vacant suite within their facility into a high-spec, high-tech training and presentation facility. Aztec secured the project via a competitive design and build procurement route, based on brief interpretation and presenting the right design solution. Once appointed, we sat down with the client to discuss the pro’s and cons of this solution to ensure that they received the exact technological system that met their requirement.
Aztec have created an impressive auditorium designed to deliver results, and one which the client is delighted with.
The fun part was to incorporate a purpose made 3 tier bleacher unit which has many advantages over traditional seating. The raised style of unit works particularly well in auditoriums with each row of seats sitting in tiers ensuring everyone has a great view regardless of what they are watching. We added purpose made seat pads covered in a Camira fabric to make it even more comfortable during longer presentations. Aztec also supplied and installed new Interface cushion backed carpet tiles. We chose this specification due to the performance of the tile, with 90% recycled content providing very tangible environmental benefits. By offering a more comfortable surface to stand or walk on, it reduces fatigue and through its acoustic properties, reduces noise levels which helps control sound reverberation.
NB: We also took into account that cushion back carpets will also last 40 to 50% longer than hardback carpets as the cushion backing absorbs the effects of wear and protects the face of the carpet.
In terms of lighting, the client wanted a dimmable system which had the capability of scene setting. The system Aztec recommended had Bluetooth capability along with occupancy and light harvesting technology. The existing lighting was upgraded to LED style to help reduce running costs and carbon emissions, this included new emergency lighting. The Luminex LP400 panels provide integrated PIR and Day Light Sensors and anti-glare diffusers.
The Audio Visual solution Aztec provided included 3No 3-ply projection fabric screens mounted from the ceiling. The projector system were all 4k, HDR units housed in secure mounts with rotatable capability, so that the visuals could be presented onto the various screens strategically and optimally located around the room. Aztec provided a projection system which was interlinked so that all projectors could present the same image at the same time. So the function of the auditorium was multi-faceted. We also installed a monitor screen so in presentation format, the presenter wouldn’t have to turn around and could review the information being shown on the he screen on the opposing wall.
Ivanti needed a comfortable, creative environment that had the capability to operate in various configurations, whilst ensuring that the correct infrastructure was in place. The area needed to have the capability to perform well, not only as an auditorium but as a collaborative hub for technical specialists who bring in external visitors.
The creation of the initial concept was a consultative process that saw Aztec work closely with Ivanti’s Facilities Management Team. Ivanti being a global company meant that they have seen the benefits of how their other offices work around the world had performed previously. Aztec needed to raise the bar to showcase what their UK operation could achieve. Throughout the consultation process Aztec applied their market knowledge alongside the precedent details of Ivantis’ other operations. This laid the perfect foundation of data that Aztec utilised to enhance and build up on the specification presented. The auditorium is now fully operational and is a facility within the groups services in high demand and seeing high occupancy numbers.
